Tip Sleeve or TS as commonly known is part of a family of phone electrical connectors which is cylindrically-shaped and primarily used for analog audio signals. Invented in the late 19th century for telephone switchboards, the TS connector remains in use for interfacing wired audio equipment, such as headphones, mixing consoles, musical keyboards, and outboard audio gear (live sound, studio use).
